Tim Hyak is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax, LLC in Houston. With almost 20 years of sales and use tax experience, Mr. Hyak has advised companies in various industries, including electric and gas utilities, exploration and production, pipeline and transportation, refining, chemical manufacturers, and construction, food manufacturing, retail and services.

In conjunction with the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), Houston Chapter, Mr. Hyak has provided annual sales tax training to the construction industry.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Hyak spent eight years as Managing Director with State Tax Advisors, leading the sales and use tax consulting practice. Previously, he spent more than 12 years as a Consultant and Team Leader with Ryan & Company, specializing in the utility study practice.

Mr. Hyak earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University at College Station. He is a Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) with the Institute of Professionals in Taxation (IPT).
