Thomas Nitsch is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Munich. He brings over two decades of seasoned leadership experience in guiding complex, PE-held companies through critical transactions while serving as interim CEO, COO, and CTO.

Mr. Nitsch has managed multiple cost improvement and efficiency improvement projects in a variety of industries and has extensive experience in complex international transformation programs including software and technology. Most recently, he led a transformation program at a Montague-owned financial services company, working with the executive management team to reduce fixed cost by over €20 million, including a headcount reduction in Germany of over 150 FTEs. He oversaw the overall program management and prepared negotiations with the works council.

Previously, as interim CTO at a Permira-owned, German debt collection company, Mr. Nitsch executed a portfolio of enterprise-wide initiatives to significantly increase productivity of customer service and the associated call center. He delivered the identified savings by ensuring that adequate resources were available and providing hands-on execution support reducing headcount by 150 FTEs in Germany.

Prior to that, Mr. Nitsch was acting COO of a large European car rental company, responsible for 3,000 employees overseeing the integration of a recent acquisition. He executed the consolidation of the complete station network reducing operating cost by 20+ million euros and led negotiations with the German works council to execute a headcount reduction of 250 FTEs.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Nitsch worked with McKinsey & Company as an Engagement Manager. During his six years there he used various cost-out methodologies and PMO tools to ensure that all improvement programs were successfully executed.

Mr. Nitsch earned a master’s degree in computer science and an MBA. He earned a Ph.D. in industrial engineering and operations research from the University of California.
