Syed Naqi is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax, LLP in Dubai. He brings more than 10 years of experience helping a diverse international client portfolio with reward and management incentives and executive remuneration.  

Mr. Naqi works closely with privately owned, private equity backed and global listed clients to align executive and senior management level reward decisions with wider business strategy and reward transformation through various growth stages. 

Mr. Naqi’s notable engagements include developing and implementing executive reward policies in the context of prevailing governance and regulatory frameworks; feasibility, design and implementation of equity incentives at executive and below-board levels; pre/post transaction incentives alignment for fast-growth companies; pre/post IPO executive reward strategy and wider reward framework development for newly listed businesses; and global equity design, implementation, compliance and operations for large multi-nationals. 

Recently, Mr. Naqi helped a global pharmaceutical company manage reward and incentives transition as a result of a demerger, including tax and regulatory compliance in 90+ locations, employee communications and regulatory correspondence with various global tax authorities. He led a reward and mobility transformation project for a newly listed fintech business (including development of reward framework based on business strategy); assisted an insurance start-up with reward policy development; assisted a listed retailer with revision and centralisation of reward policy across various business segments as a result of COVID-19; and worked with a private equity house to develop management incentives framework for portfolio companies. 

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Naqi spent over four years with the People Advisory Services team at EY in the UK, serving most recently as Director. He led the reward advisory business in the South and Midlands, successfully helping clients design, implement and operate diverse management incentive plans in the UK and abroad, including helping a fast-growing fin-tech implement a multi-jurisdiction equity plan and assisting a client with cost modelling, benchmarking and pay-out analysis in the lead up to an IPO.

Mr. Naqi earned a bachelor’s degree (honours) in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University and an MBA from the University of Wales. He is a Chartered Accountant in the UK.
