Simon Oertel

With more than 17 years of experience in management, transaction, and operational consulting, Mr. Oertel supports PE funds in identifying operational risks and opportunities during due diligence and driving EBITDA uplift and working capital optimization during the holding period. His expertise spans operational due diligence, external spend reduction, capital expenditure efficiency, and holistic value creation planning.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Oertel spent more than four years with EY-Parthenon as a Partner in Munich, where he built out the Private Equity Value Creation team and worked on assignments across Europe for large- and mid-cap PE clients and their portfolio companies. Earlier in his career, he spent over 13 years at Oliver Wyman, where he developed the operational due diligence offering in Central Europe and led procurement performance improvement initiatives for PE portfolio companies.
Mr. Oertel’s notable assignments include operational due diligence of a leading safety equipment manufacturer in the Nordics, design and implementation of a holistic external spend reduction project for a PE-owned hospitality player, and operational due diligence of a globally recognized athletic footwear and apparel brand as part of a complex and integrated due diligence effort for a large-cap PE fund. Notably, Mr. Oertel led the operational assessment of and turnaround concept development for a luxury performance original equipment manufacturer. He has worked with clients across various industries, including automotive, manufacturing, retail, and hospitality.
Mr. Oertel earned a diploma (Diplom-Kaufmann) in international business administration from the University of Tübingen, Germany, and an MBA (with distinction) from INSEAD. He has worked and lived on three continents, is fluent in English and German, and has a working knowledge of Spanish and French.
