

Mr. Tans has more than 20 years of industry and consulting experience across a wide array of functions and industries. Most recently, he was responsible for process and organizational transformation of a leading retail merchandising and fixtures manufacturer.
Notable assignments in operational improvement include the organizational restructuring of a $5 billion global packaging company resulting in $40 million in cost reduction while enabling a growth strategy. He also established the Enterprise Project Management (EPM) function for a leading training services provider to manage a business transformation from a classroom-oriented to a multi-mode educational provider. In addition, Mr. Tans led process improvements and G&A reduction for a $160 million environmental services company, resulting in the doubling of EBITDA and the successful sale of the company.
Notable assignments in margin management include the establishment of pricing processes and rolling out a compensation program for a restoration services company, resulting in a 25 percent EBITDA improvement. For a digital print and marketing communications company, Mr. Tans developed cost and customer profitability transparency, account planning processes and implemented a $3 million price increase for underperforming accounts. For a global environmental lining manufacturer, he shifted the sales force from a fixed to variable pay model and implemented a pricing tool and process, improving gross profit by three percentage points globally.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Tans worked in the private equity practice of Arthur D. Little in New York. Previously, he worked in consulting for The Boston Consulting Group, and in industry for Lucent Technologies, Pitney Bowes and Nortel.
Mr. Tans earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in computer science, and a Master of Engineering degree from Cornell University. He also earned an MBA with distinction from the New York University Stern School of Business.
