Mr. Kamath has led programs related to performance improvement, business strategy and organizational transformation with clients. He also brings a deep understanding of regulation and power markets and has assisted regulators in developing regulation, market modeling and competition development. Additionally, Mr. Kamath brings expertise in demand-side management, energy efficiency and waste-to-energy areas and has advised corporates in their decarbonization journey, helping them evaluate alternate sources of low-carbon energy and assisting them in procurement of the same.
Furthermore, Mr. Kamath has been called to advise senior government authorities and expert committees in relation to scaling up clean energy in India and resolve difficult issues in the power sector. He has advised regulators on matters related to tariff revision for long-term contracts due to global events, and been an early advocate of use of solar power in the agriculture sector.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Kamath served as Partner with KPMG in their energy practice and led the renewable energy sector. With specialization in new energy areas, including solar and wind power, hydrogen and energy storage, he has advised clients in bidding for government concessions in these sectors, and also in the mining and resources area.
Mr. Kamath's notable assignments include driving operational excellence and business transformation for a large power utility; developing the renewable energy policy for a large state in India; advocating for development of the solar manufacturing ecosystem in the country; and helping a large utility to scale up distributed solar generation through an aggregation model.
Mr. Kamath earned a BTech degree from IIT Bombay and a management degree from IIM Bangalore. He also authored the industry-acknowledged thought leadership paper in the solar sector, “The Rising Sun,” which predicted the rise of solar energy to where it stands today, much ahead of its time.
