Mr. Roy’s notable engagements include building out the financial crime compliance infrastructure for the premier sovereign wealth fund in Saudi Arabia, from its beginning to over 2,000 staff in line with its growth plans; building out the governance, risk and compliance infrastructure for a start-up investment bank headquartered in the DIFC that expanded in the UAE and across Egypt, South Africa, Lebanon and London over a 10-year period; and heading and developing EMEA compliance functions for a blue-chip U.S. banking group and a blue-chip U.S. alternatives asset manager in line with U.S. group and local requirements.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Roy spent four years with The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, where he most recently served as Head of Financial Crime Compliance. Before that, he served as Managing Director, Board Director and Group Head of Compliance at Arqaam Capital Group; EMEA Regional Compliance Officer at Citigroup Alternative Investments; and EMEA Regional Head of Compliance at Bank One, N.A.
Mr. Roy earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and financial analysis from the University of Warwick and an MBA from the University of Middlesex. He was awarded the Ajrab Sword trophy by the Saudi Arabian Military Industries for governance, risk and compliance services while at the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and was nominated as the Best Compliance Officer in London for Alternatives Asset Management while at Citigroup. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. A British national, Mr. Roy is fluent in English.
