With more than 10 years of legal experience, Mr. Chhatwal has built in-house global eDiscovery and information governance functions, including strategic planning, counseling, deployment and partner management. He brings significant experience drafting and executing policies and procedures for global data governance and government response and has counseled Fortune 10 clients on mobile devices, privacy, technology infrastructure and litigation discovery.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Chhatwal served as Director and Associate General Counsel of eDiscovery and Information Governance at Coinbase, Inc., where he led the eDiscovery team and strengthened policies and procedures in an evolving regulatory environment.
Previously, Mr. Chhatwal served as Assistant Vice President – Senior Legal Counsel, Enterprise Discovery and Legal Operations at AT&T Services, Inc., where he built the Legal Operations Center of Expertise and led legal transformation, M&A second requests, domestic and global eDiscovery data privacy, information governance and data remediation. He was also part of the legal team that successfully defended the first vertical merger challenge in more than 40 years. Mr. Chhatwal began his career as an Associate at Sidley Austin LLP in the telecommunications regulatory and intellectual property litigation practices.
Mr. Chhatwal earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and international studies from Emory University and a J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Georgia School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in New York and the District of Columbia. He serves as an adjunct professor of law at the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School; a Board Member of the Georgetown Law School Advanced eDiscovery Institute; a Global Advisory Council Member for the Electronic Discovery Reference Model; and a former Fellow for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
