Richard Slark

Mr. Slark specializes in the understanding and mitigation of price, policy and regulatory risk in energy markets, facilitating infrastructure investment under these uncertainties for developments, acquisitions and financings. He advises on the commercial and strategic response to change in energy markets and energy policy by providing insight into the future evolution of markets in the energy transition to low carbon electricity, heat and transport sectors, and the implications for infrastructure investments and corporate strategy.
Mr. Slark’s notable assignments include: delivering expert testimony in litigations in relation to energy prices, revenue loss, investor expectations, supply chain and energy policy; providing strategic advice to a utility on integrating and expanding an acquired global renewable asset portfolio; developing future energy scenarios to test the connotations for market prices and participants; and market and regulatory due diligence on acquisitions of wind, solar and bio-energy asset portfolios.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Slark was director of the generation practice at Pöyry Management Consulting, a global energy markets advisory. In this role, he developed and led Pöyry’s renewable energy team to provide market, commercial and regulatory due diligence advice to M&A and financing transactions of renewable and conventional generation assets across European markets.
Mr. Slark began his career as an economist with the UK electricity regulator (now Ofgem), where he worked on competition issues, transfer pricing and price control reviews of transmission, distribution and supply businesses.
Mr. Slark earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of East Anglia in the UK and a master’s degree in environmental management from Stirling University in the UK. He is a board director of Southill Community Energy, a sustainability non-profit.
