Nicola Barbini is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal in London.

With over 17 years of experience, he specializes in providing due diligence services and performance improvement projects to private equity sponsors and corporate clients.

Mr. Barbini has developed a particular expertise in assessing a company's key financial and operational business drivers; the quality and sustainability of forecast earnings and cash flows; and potential changes in a company's working capital and funding requirements. He has significant expertise in cross-border assignments and worked with clients across various industries, including retail, consumer, healthcare, business services, industrials and TMT.

Since joining A&M, Mr. Barbini has led engagements on behalf of several private equity firms including: Advent, Platinum, Stirling Square, Paine & Schwartz, TA Associates, Tikehau, CBPE, Union Park, Levine Leichtman, Inflexion, American Securities, Wellspring Capital, Charme, FSN Capital, Francisco Partners, H.I.G. Capital, BlueGem and L Catterton.

Mr. Barbini also worked on the operational restructuring of a leading point of purchase (POP) manufacturer and shopper marketing agency with a focus on fixing several pricing / costing issues, and performed the operational review of a pan-European provider of healthcare services (including diagnostics), identifying cost savings opportunities and advising on initiatives to improve management information.

Before joining A&M, he served at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in London, executing debt financing for leveraged buyout transactions backed by private equity sponsors, including CD&R, Cinven and Warburg Pincus. While at RBS, he was involved in developing the U.K. Government's Asset Protection Scheme, valuing the bank's leveraged loan portfolio under different distress scenarios.

Mr. Barbini joined RBS from the PricewaterhouseCoopers Transaction Services team in London, where he was a Manager providing due diligence services to a number of large private equity sponsors including Blackstone, Bain Capital, IK Investment Partners and Macquarie.

Mr. Barbini earned a master's degree in business administration with honors from the University of Ancona in Italy. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Mr. Barbini is an Italian and British national.
