Nicola Barbini is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in London. With more than 20 years of experience, he specializes in providing performance improvement and due diligence services for private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies.

Mr. Barbini is an expert in developing and executing value creation plans, managing operational transformation and post-merger integration programs, assessing a company's key financial and operational business drivers, establishing the quality and sustainability of forecast earnings and cash flows.

Mr. Barbini has worked with clients on numerous cross-border projects and in various industries, including business services, consumer, education, healthcare, industrials, retail, and technology. His notable assignments at A&M include leading engagements on behalf of private equity sponsors including Bain Capital, Bridgepoint, Cinven, KKR, Permira, Platinum Equity, Riverside and TowerBrook.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Barbini worked with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in London, executing debt financing for leveraged buyout transactions backed by private equity sponsors such as CD&R, Cinven and Warburg Pincus. Mr. Barbini also helped develop the U.K. government's Asset Protection Scheme, in which he valued the bank's leveraged loan portfolio under different distress scenarios.

Previously, Mr. Barbini served on the Transaction Services team at PwC in London, where he provided due diligence services to a number of private equity sponsors including Bain Capital, Blackstone and Macquarie.

Mr. Barbini earned a master’s degree in business administration (with honors) from the Universita' Politecnica delle Marche in Italy. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. An Italian and British national, Mr. Barbini is fluent in English and Italian.
