Nick Jarman is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Global Transaction Advisory Group in Melbourne. He is part of the ESG Advisory practice and advises private equity firms on ESG risk and value creation through the deal life cycle, from pre-acquisition due diligence through portfolio value creation and exit. With over a decade of experience across sustainability, climate risk, and transaction advisory, he focuses on translating nonfinancial risks into commercial deal outcomes.

Mr. Jarman has led ESG and climate due diligence workstreams across numerous transactions, connecting ESG exposures—such as carbon pricing risk, regulatory liability, environmental remediation obligations, and supply chain vulnerability—directly to financial impacts, capital planning, and investment committee decision-making. His transaction experience spans sectors including energy infrastructure, manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences, and transport and logistics.

Mr. Jarman also advises on supply chain resilience and modern slavery compliance, climate transition exposure, and ESG strategy for portfolio companies and corporates. This includes designing governance and accountability structures, building ESG data controls and reporting processes, integrating climate risk into enterprise risk frameworks, and supporting regulatory compliance across Australian and international sustainability disclosure regimes. His corporate advisory work extends across mining and metals, chemicals, manufacturing, healthcare, and life sciences.

Mr. Jarman’s work has delivered measurable commercial results, including operational cost reduction initiatives, supply chain ESG playbooks, and category-level emissions reduction roadmaps that have translated directly into EBITDA uplift and reduced operational risk.

Prior to his four years at A&M, Mr. Jarman spent five years in EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability practice, managing climate and ESG advisory programs. Earlier in his career, he developed the social impact strategy for the multibillion-dollar foundation of an Asian sovereign wealth fund and served as capital raise project manager for one of Australia’s leading impact investments at the time, which raised over $30 million from philanthropic, sophisticated, and institutional investors.

Mr. Jarman earned a bachelor of arts and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Melbourne. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Charterholder and holds the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing.

Recent headlines suggest that ESG – Environmental, Social, and Governance – may be losing traction in the U.S., fueling the notion of 'ESG Fatigue', as critics dismiss it as little more than a passing trend. Yet again, perception differs from reality.
A&M’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Advisory team joined private market leaders in sustainability at Private Equity International’s Responsible Investment Forum in New York City last week and present seven key takeaways.
In response to increased regulatory and investor pressure, our client, a value-driven private equity firm, recognized the importance of addressing carbon emissions within their portfolio. They sought a comprehensive portfolio-wide carbon assessment to analyze their environmental impact, meet evolving regulatory requirements and better align with investor expectations.
