Nancy Gutzler

With more than 30 years of experience, Ms. Gutzler has advised clients on complex insurance recoveries, analyzed and sampled large-scale claims populations, developed claims processing procedures, and provided expert testimony in insurance-related litigation and arbitration. She also provides settlement consulting services across a range of product liability exposures.
Ms. Gutzler has testified on issues such as allocation and trigger methodologies, insurance archaeology, proof of underlying exhaustion, and interest calculations tied to unpaid claims. Ms. Gutzler has also served as an expert in high-profile bankruptcy cases. She has worked with clients across various industries, including energy, financial services, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Gutzler spent 15 years with KCIC in Washington, DC, where she led engagements assisting policyholders in managing and analyzing complex claims and navigating insurer settlement negotiations, often involving contested coverage theories as well as insolvent insurers. Before KCIC, Ms. Gutzler was a Director at Navigant Consulting, where she was responsible for preparing asbestos claims insurance billings, testifying on matters related to the Wellington Agreement, and consulting on accounting and billing disputes.
Ms. Gutzler earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University. She is a founding member of the American Bar Association’s (ABA’s) Women in Insurance Network and an active member of the ABA Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee. She has been recognized as a “Top Woman Leader of DC” by Women We Admire (2024) and named a “Global Elite Thought Leader and Insurance Expert Witness” by Lexology’s Who’s Who Legal. She is also a recipient of the Lexology Client Choice Award.
