Monika Arora
Ms. Arora brings 24+ years of experience in consulting, specializing in indirect taxation. She has worked with clients across a range of industries, including manufacturing, industrials, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), e-commerce, telecommunications, IT/IT-enabled services (ITES), and healthcare.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Arora spent 11+ years with the Tax practice of Deloitte India, where she most recently served as a Partner in Indirect Tax. Before that, she spent 10+ years with PwC’s Indirect Tax practice.
Ms. Arora’s previous assignments have spanned indirect tax advisory (including GST and customs advisory, complex classification under customs and GST, business model structuring, planning and implementation.) and policy and controversy management (including tax risk assessment, litigation support, briefing counsels, policy representations, authority representation, anti-evasion, and intelligence investigations). She has also worked in strategic CapEx growth planning, including monetizing credits, incentive/credit maximization, availing central and state incentive schemes, establishing special economic zone units, and leveraging export-related benefits. Ms. Arora also has experience in automation, business requirements analysis for enterprise resource planning and tax engine implementations.
Ms. Arora’s notable assignments include classification of over 5,000 stock-keeping units for a leading e-commerce and an Irish medical devices company, and she assisted a leading Japanese trading house and an American telecom major in strategizing and settling a high-stakes indirect tax dispute at Supreme Court level. Ms. Arora also assisted a leading consumer company in representing a policy matter and achieved a successful outcome in the form of a GST exemption notification.
Ms. Arora earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Delhi University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). She is fluent in English and Hindi.
