Mihai Birsescu
With more than 15 years of consulting and industry experience, Mr. Birsescu has advised C-suite leaders across Europe and the Middle East, led large-scale transformation programs, and built and scaled cross-functional teams driving measurable financial outcomes.
Mr. Birsescu’s notable assignments include leading a scaled agile transformation across the residential business of a major Western European telecom operator, defining the new target operating model for an integrated B2B player post-acquisition of an information and communication technology asset, and designing and implementing growth strategies across B2B and B2C portfolios. He served as Program Director for a pan-European telecom company, overseeing the strategic phase-out of legacy copper infrastructure and the migration to modern technologies. He has worked with clients across telecommunications, banking, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and the beverage industry.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Birsescu spent two years as an independent consultant based in Bucharest, leading cross-functional value optimization and transformation projects in the telecom sector. Before that, he served as Director and Tribe Lead for Base Growth at Vodafone, where he established and scaled a new post-merger organization to manage churn, revenue optimization, and convergence initiatives, ultimately delivering €7 million in annual revenue uplift and significant retention improvements.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Birsescu was a Partner at Boston Consulting Group, where he led the launch of the Bucharest office and focused on telecom transformations. He also worked as an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in commercial strategy, performance management, and large-scale organizational change programs.
Mr. Birsescu earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and international management (summa cum laude) from Simpson College, Iowa, and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law. A Romanian national, he is fluent in English and Romanian.
