Mercedes Bernal

With more than 11 years of experience, Ms. Bernal specializes in the areas of forensic computer analysis, e-Discovery processes and data analysis.
She has undertaken assignments in large scale litigations across the world (Luxembourg, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, South America, Portugal and The Netherlands) including those pertaining to collection, data processing and support on document review.
As a dedicated forensic technology practitioner, Ms. Bernal provides specialist services in forensic IT investigations (analysis of the use of electronic devices assigned to employees or alleged misconduct, misappropriation of confidential information, unauthorized access to information, etc.); international eDiscovery projects following reporting requirements by regulatory bodies such as the SEC; analysis of data extracted from different data repositories to identify patterns or irregular conducts, as well as preparation of expert witness reports for both trials and arbitration courts.
Ms. Bernal began her professional career in the department of New Network Technologies at Telefónica I+D in June 2008. In November 2010 she joined the Department of Analytics and Forensic Technology at Deloitte where she reached the rank of Manager. Ms. Bernal also led FTI’s Forensic Technology practice in Spain as a Director between 2016 and 2019.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a master’s degree in systems development from Universidad de Salamanca. She is a qualified Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA and EnCase Forensic Computer Advanced from Guidance.
