Matt Bialecki is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Chicago, specializing as an expert witness in litigation support matters and as an expert and arbitrator in post-acquisition disputes.

With more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Bialecki brings significant expertise in complex damage analysis involving lost profits, reasonable royalty, prejudgment interest, convoyed sales, accelerated reentry, unjust enrichment and lost sales on disputes involving breach of contract, intellectual property, class actions, accountant’s liability and fraud.

He has been an expert, consultant and neutral arbitrator in post-acquisition disputes (including working capital disputes and breaches of representations and warranties) and matters involving the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).

Mr. Bialecki has assisted clients with internal investigations, SEC and other regulatory inquiries, investigations and restatements. Furthermore, he has worked with clients across a wide range of industries, including banking, insurance, professional services, healthcare, construction, petroleum, specialty chemicals, finance, automotive, gaming, manufacturing, telecommunications, public utilities, aerospace, agriculture, real estate, retail and metals.

Before joining A&M, Mr. Bialecki was a Partner with Deloitte Financial Advisory Services in Chicago. There, he was the Midwest and North Central Regions’ Professional Practice Director, the Midwest Insurance Industry Leader and the Midwest Insurance Industry Fraud Specialist for their Forensic and Dispute practice serving as a fraud specialist for large insurance clients.

Mr. Bialecki earned a bachelor’s degree in public accounting from Loyola University of Chicago and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the states of Illinois and California.

He is a member of the Association of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Illinois CPA Society, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and is also certified through the AICPA in Financial Forensics. In addition, he is a member of the select AICPA Taskforce on Merger and Acquisition Disputes.
