Matthew Bialecki

Mr. Bialecki has experience in the automotive, professional services, banking, insurance, healthcare, construction, petroleum, energy, mining, specialty chemicals, finance, gaming, manufacturing, telecommunications, aerospace, agriculture, real estate, retail, software, technology and metals industries. He specializes in disputes with complex financial issues, application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS), financial investigations, and post-merger and acquisition disputes.
Mr. Bialecki has conducted many internal forensic accounting investigations, internal controls reviews, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations, and restatements.
Mr. Bialecki has consulted or testified on damage issues, including lost profits, the application of GAAP and GAAS in a number of different industries, and financial department internal controls in matters involving accountant’s liability, breach of contract and fraud, among others.
He has also reviewed hundreds of purchase agreements and consulted or served as a neutral arbitrator in many post-acquisition purchase price disputes involving the interpretation of GAAP, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Bialecki was a Partner with Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP (Deloitte FAS) in Chicago. While with Deloitte FAS, Mr. Bialecki was the Midwest and North Central Region Professional Practice Director for the Dispute and Forensic Practice, the Midwest Insurance Industry Leader and the Midwest Insurance Industry Fraud Specialist. He was the fraud specialist on a number of large, public company audits.
Mr. Bialecki earned a bachelor’s degree in public accounting from Loyola University of Chicago. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the state of Illinois; a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA); a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Illinois CPA Society, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE); certified through the AICPA in Financial Forensics (CFF); and a member of the AICPA Taskforce on Merger and Acquisition Disputes.
