Mark Sanders

He brings more than 20 years of experience in financial and operational restructuring, private equity, investment banking and asset management. Mr. Sanders has worked with private equity funds, multinationals, high net-worth individuals and banks across a range of industries, including broadcast media, heavy and light manufacturing, metallurgy, telecommunications, automotive, energy and agriculture. He has managed funds invested throughout Central Europe, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Ukraine, and has served as an expert witness in large litigations.
Before joining A&M, Mr. Sanders spent 12 years with Boston Venture Central Europe, an independent partnership he founded focused on the design and implementation of complex financial restructuring and debt workout management programs, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions advisory mandates for clients throughout Central Europe.
While at Boston Venture, Mr. Sanders, among others, restructured and served on the board of directors of Agro Jevisovice, a.s., the second largest vertical agriculture cooperative in the Czech Republic with farmed land of approximately 14,000 hectares in the Czech Republic and Romania. The workout of Agro Jevisovice involved the settlement of hundreds of overdue payables to trade suppliers and leasing companies, the restructuring of a syndicated loan to four banks, negotiating revised purchase conditions with key customers, and the sale and spin off of significant business assets.
As a Director of the joint venture between Lazard Freres and Latona Associates which managed the Czech Revitalization Agency (a state-sponsored workout and restructuring vehicle managing approximately USD $2 billion in nominal assets), Mr. Sanders oversaw the restructuring of Skoda Holding, one of the largest manufacturing firms in the Czech Republic, including Skoda Steel (the company's steel division) and sat on Skoda Holding’s Supervisory Board. At the same time, he assisted in the restructuring of tractor manufacturer Zetor and the sale of heavy truck manufacturer Tatra. Prior to working at the agency, Mr. Sanders worked for the specialized finance group of Erste Bank, where he structured acquisition finance transactions and made private equity investments for Erste Private Equity Ltd., the bank's in-house private equity fund.
Mr. Sanders earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy from Haverford College and a master’s degree in business administration from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. A U.S. national, Mr. Sanders is fluent in English and speaks Czech.
