She brings more than 25 years of operational, supply chain and change management experience at C-suite level, gained while working for globally recognised blue chip organisations. Ms. Simovic has extensive hands-on operational experience in the retail, healthcare, transportation, logistics and airline sectors and has strong knowledge of working across Europe, America and Australasia.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Simovic worked for an International Airlines Group (IAG). Most recently, she delivered an international change management programme including key strategic change and transformation across the group’s finance, procurement and IT services, which continues to deliver significant savings and enhanced productivity for the group. A key element of this was the creation of a shared service centre in Central Europe, centralising and relocating functions from locations across Europe whilst also identifying appropriate services and outsourcing these activities to various third-party suppliers across the globe.
Her logistics and transport experience was gained while leading a complex post-merger integration. In under two years, Ms. Simovic established the U.K.’s second largest parcel delivery company and substantially improved the combined organisation’s profitability.
In a previous role with one of U.K.’s leading food manufacturers, she developed the strategy and led the implementation of a new division for the business, including the M&A of a number of businesses within the food retail and food manufacturing sectors and subsequent post-acquisition transformation, resulting in marked customer and profit growth.
As Managing Director of Nuffield Hospitals, Ms. Simovic was responsible for the leadership and strategic transformation of 20 private hospitals, which delivered a year-on-year doubling of EBITBA, significant improvement in patient satisfaction and aligned revenue growth.
Starting her c-suite career with Pepsi and YUM Restaurants International, Ms. Simovic successfully undertook numerous substantive operational and strategic roles across Australia, U.S. and the U.K. spanning operational, call centre, mergers and acquisition – always with a focus of turning around/improving under-performing areas of the business.
Throughout her career, Marija’s approach has been one of achieving world class service, people and financial results, developing long term sustainable commercial strategies and a resultant legacy that builds strength for the businesses she leads and continues to deliver future success.
Ms. Simovic earned an MBA from Macquarie University Sydney and a bachelor’s degree in Pure Mathematics from the University of Technology Sydney. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Management and Australian Mathematicians Society.
