Marcos Cortes

Mr. Cortes assists corporate clients with executing inorganic and organic growth strategies. He manages initiatives related to mergers, acquisitions, and carve-outs from due diligence to post-closing activities. Mr. Cortes brings extensive experience in M&A gross-to-net transitions and antitrust M&A regulation, leveraging his knowledge to help clients navigate complex regulatory environments with ease.
Working across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, his notable engagements include: leading a $63 billion integration of a Fortune 100 research-based global biopharmaceutical company with a global pharma company; advising on a $31 billion tax-free spin for a medical device division of a global pharmaceutical company; and directing a $4 billion divestiture of a business unit for a Fortune 500 technology multinational based in California.
Mr. Cortes designed a comprehensive product database called the Deal Product Perimeter that captures and offers an in-depth understanding of assets under review. He also orchestrated strategic due diligence for a market-leading diabetes and obesity biopharmaceutical corporation which acquired a biopharmaceutical company’s manufacturing arm and integrated 400 specialists, and he advised a $1 billion complex divestment for a large multinational pharmaceutical company.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Cortes was part of the KPMG M&A Strategy team advising global clients on due diligence and pre- and post-merger activities. He also formed and led a strategic global cross-functional internal M&A organization at Siemens.
Mr. Cortes earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul, Brazil and an MBA (concentration in entrepreneurship) from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College, Florida. He earned a certificate from the advanced M&A strategy program at the University of California Los Angeles, a certificate in pharmaceutical management from Cornell University, and a master’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences (concentration in pharmaceutical regulation) from the University of Florida. Mr. Cortes is also a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
