Maggie To is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Hong Kong. She specializes in Asia–Pacific asset management services tax. Her primary areas of concentration are Hong Kong and Asia–Pacific tax and transaction tax, particularly in the private equity and real estate space.
With 20 years of Asia–Pacific tax experience, Ms. To’s notable projects include advising investment funds (private equity, real estate, credit, and hedge) throughout all aspects of the fund life cycle, including fund formation, acquisitions and deal structuring, deal documentation, and restructuring/divestments.
Ms. To brings extensive experience in international and domestic taxation in Hong Kong. She has advised large multinationals across the Asia–Pacific region on planning their outbound investments and exit strategies.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. To served as a Partner with E&Y in Hong Kong. She also previously worked with PwC in Hong Kong.
Ms. To earned a bachelor’s degree of commerce in accounting and finance and a master’s degree of commerce in information systems management, both from the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). She is a member of CPA Australia.
The Hong Kong Government gazetted the long-awaited Inland Revenue (Amendment) (Preferential Tax Regimes for Funds, Family-owned Investment Holding Vehicles and Carried Interest) Bill 2026 (the “Bill”) on 12 June 2026. The Bill proposes enhancements to the existing preferential tax regimes for funds, family owned investment holding vehicles (“FIHVs”) managed by single family offices and the carried interest concession.
