Luigi “Lou” Peluso is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in New York.

Mr. Peluso brings more than 30 years of experience leading high impact transformative programs and driving operational improvement in sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, and selling, general and administrative (SG&A) management. He has worked extensively with private equity firms and public corporations on a global basis, concentrating on the consumer, industrial, aerospace and defense sectors.

Mr. Peluso’s notable assignments include leading the process transformation program of a market leading manufacturer of spacecraft, focusing on sourcing, manufacturing, engineering, SG&A restructuring and more than doubling earnings in 12 months before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. He partnered with the executive team of an aerospace system provider to transform its manufacturing and supply chain model, reducing material costs by 25 percent. Mr. Peluso also supported the operating model transformation for a Tier 1 defense system OEM, including manufacturing and engineering for fixed wing, rotary wing and spacecraft sectors to yield dramatic reductions in cost and a streamlined organizational structure.

Previously, Mr. Peluso coordinated a manufacturing intervention at an integrated firearm company, increasing production output by 25 percent in eight weeks. He partnered with the executive team of a Tier 1 A&D client to transform the engineering and product development process across divisions to improve program capture effectiveness, reduce R&D costs and drive technology leverage and re-use. Mr. Peluso led a supplier intervention in a major marine program plagued by delays and cost overruns, developing a corrective action plan with the troubled supplier, renegotiating the supplier contract and developing a report to the US Navy.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Peluso worked with Ingersoll Rand and the Danaher Corporation, introducing and deploying Lean business practices. He has been a Partner and Practice Leader for other top consultancies. He has taught in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mr. Peluso earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.
