Lorenzo Grillo is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Milan, and leads the firm’s Europe and Middle East Global Cyber Risk Services practice. He specializes in information technology and cyber security risk management, security strategy and governance, security organization and skill assessment, incident and crisis management, cyber resilience, security operations centers design and implementation, business continuity management, information governance and protection, application integrity, IT governance and digital transformation.

With more than 35 years of experience in IT and 26 years of experience in information security, Mr. Grillo has advised the top management and board of directors of many enterprise organizations and private equity firms to understand and manage companies’ cyber risk.

Mr. Grillo’s notable assignments include helping several organizations’ management teams justify cybersecurity investments by leading information security risk evaluations and developing programs to mitigate business risks in case of data confidentiality, integrity and availability loss. He led the global European information security organization and skill assessment for a leading insurance company. Mr. Grillo also improved a global government organization’s ability to effectively and efficiently manage their cyber resilience, including the design of their security operation centre and defining incident management processes and procedures, roles and responsibilities. He also led a physical and logical security assessment and a related remediation plan for the production plant of a global pharmaceutical company.

Most recently, Mr. Grillo was responsible for analyzing the cybersecurity posture, as well as proposing and implementing security remediation with portfolio companies for various private equity firms. He led many cyber due diligences for private equity firms around Europe. Mr. Grillo has worked with clients across a range of industries, including financial services (banks, insurances, payment providers and fintech), telecommunications, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, energy and utilities, media and technology.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Grillo spent more than four years with AlixPartners in London, where he served as co-leader of the EMEA Cyber Security practice.

Mr. Grillo earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Politecnico di Milano.
