Libero Marconi is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Europe and Middle East Cyber Risk Services in Zurich. His primary areas of concentration are digital transformation, information security, risk management, strategy, business continuity, operational resilience, and crypto-technologies. 

With more than 28 years working in information technology, including 23 years of experience in information security and more than 14 years of experience in C-level roles, Mr. Marconi has served as Board Member, Chief Technical Officer, and Chief Information Security Officer. His vast experience in facilitating board-level consensus, particularly in the field of digital transformation and related risk, lets him effectively lead and manage organizations in a variety of industries and sectors.

Mr. Marconi has led 30+ multi-year programs across various industries, including financial institutions, manufacturing, pharma, energy and utilities, e-government, telco and aerospace. He completed a two-year interim role as CISO in a M&A operation of companies in financial transaction processing, e-payment services, and credit card issuing, achieving critical business certifications such as PCI-DSS, and ISO27001. Additionally, Mr. Marconi managed IT security in various companies during digital transformations and played a key role in establishing group information security organizations, processes, and external functions. He acted as a Senior Advisor to national investment banks and delivered customized table-top exercises involving all company stakeholders and processes. 

Previously, Mr. Marconi served as the interim CISO for a PE-owned manufacturing corporation, successfully restoring their IT operations following a severe cyber event. He also established a robust cybersecurity posture that included implementing a SOC, developing a group cyber incident management process, integrating with the Enterprise Risk Management Process, and introducing a security-by-design approach to IT operations through a 12-month program.

Mr. Marconi earned degrees in telecommunications and industrial electronic engineering (focus on industrial electronics and process automation). He also earned a postgraduate diploma in IT security management and cybercrime and a postgraduate certificate in cyber security and defensive strategies. Mr. Marconi is an ISO27001 Lead Auditor and accredited DPO.
