Lee Betteridge is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations practice in London.

He brings more than 12 years of professional experience in forensic services including regulatory and internal investigations, compliance programme design and monitoring, pre- and post-deal due diligence, third-party risk management, enterprise risk and business partner risk management. His investigation experience spans regulatory and internal cases involving fraud, bribery and corruption and misconduct, with assignments undertaken around the globe.

Mr. Betteridge has sector specialism in pharmaceuticals and life sciences. Having started his career in pharmaceutical research and development (R&D) performance and has supporting clients with governance, risk, compliance, internal audit and investigations. These matters have included alleged off-label promotion and unethical commercial practices, medical affairs non-compliance, issues within clinical trials, participating of a distributor in public tenders, bribery and corruption within the target of M&A and revenue leakage of co-promote / licensing arrangements. 

Mr. Betteridge has led cross-border investigations requiring interviews, data collection, background checks and appropriate use of forensic technology specialists. He has supported numerous clients with the design, implementation and execution of their risk-based compliance and internal audit programmes. This has included assignments to independently monitor and report on the design and progress of clients’ compliance strategy and execution for external stakeholders. He has supported numerous pre- and post-deal integrity due diligence matters for M&A and business partnering, in conjunction with the financial and operational due diligence teams and legal counsel.

Mr. Betteridge has led a number of royalty and license reviews as part of a dispute or arbitration, resulting in financial recoveries.

Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal Lee was with PwC Forensics and KPMG Forensics having joined from the Centre of Medicines Research. He earned a PhD in physics from the University of Kent and is an accredited Counter Fraud Specialist with Portsmouth University.
