Leanne Scott is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Boston. She specializes in US state and local tax matters. Her primary areas of concentration are income and franchise, gross receipts, and sales and use tax matters, including consulting, planning, compliance, and tax controversies.

With more than 20 years of tax experience, Ms. Scott has worked with business and individual clients from a range of industries on all aspects of state and local taxation. She has expertise in both domestic and foreign or inbound filings, and she brings both public accounting firm and in-house experience to her practice.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Scott was the State and Local Tax Leader with a regional accounting firm in Boston. Previously, she served as the State and Local Tax Director for a large insurance and financial services group. Ms. Scott has also worked for both national and global accounting firms over the course of her career.

Ms. Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in history with minors in English and political science from Louisiana State University. She subsequently earned a JD from Emory University School of Law and an LLM in taxation from Boston University School of Law. Ms. Scott is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and is also licensed (but inactive) in Georgia and New York. She is a member of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue Advisory Council and the Boston Bar Association and is also a non-certified public accountant associate member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, Ms. Scott serves on the Board of Advisors of the New England State and Local Tax Forum.
