He brings more than 25 years of operations and lean manufacturing experience. As a Chief Operations Officer, Director and Vice President within world-class manufacturing businesses, he has developed and implemented numerous strategic transformations, operation performance improvement and Lean initiatives. He is characterised by strategic thinking, strong operational focus and willingness to make and implement difficult decisions.
Mr. Garvey has worked with corporate and private equity clients helping deliver turnarounds, business transformations and operational restructuring. He has worked with companies across a range of industry sectors including automotive operations and supply chain, electronics operations and supply chain, semiconductor OEM manufacturing, heavy machining and assembly, aerospace, marine, FMCG, semiconductor and various component manufacturing and assembly operations.
Most recently at A&M, Mr. Garvey helped a global technology and industrial manufacturer to create and implement its strategy for future production growth. Using his experience in developing and improving manufacturing operations, their capacity was increased by more than 20%, generating a significant increase in sales and profit.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Garvey was Owner and MD of a fast-growing Operations & Organisational Improvement consultancy, which was founded on the principles of Lean Manufacturing and the Toyota Production System. This company had developed into a recognised consultancy that provides both rapid improvement techniques and long-term organisational development dependent upon the customer requirements.
Prior to consulting, Mr. Garvey developed his Lean Operational Improvement skills whilst working long term for Toyota. Prior to leaving Toyota, his final position was Head of Manufacturing Operations at their engine plant. After leaving Toyota, Mr. Garvey held senior roles within the Automotive sector. Working for Volkswagen, he was a Director of Production Operations and, responsible for supporting and developing the VW Group Production System (Audi, Skoda, etc). This involved developing the Lean Manufacturing techniques throughout the whole organisation, focussing on leadership development, productivity and lead-time improvements.
Mr. Garvey earned a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
