Ken Barrette

Mr. Barrette assists clients in developing and implementing actionable strategy, driving turnarounds, increasing profitability and revenue for new business ventures and products, and improving velocity and value realization of strategic business investments. He advises boards and senior leaders of large global and national companies and private equity-owned portfolio companies on all aspects of commercial excellence, M&A, value creation, selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) performance improvement, new product and market performance stabilization, healthcare clinical service delivery, and enterprise shared services optimization.
Mr. Barrette’s representative engagements include: leading a payer within the Fortune 25 on divestitures and performance turnarounds of diversified businesses in pharmacy, dental, and Medicare performance; conducting a divestiture analysis of multi-site primary, specialty, and urgent care assets for a pharmacy retailer within the Fortune 25, including transaction advisory services and business financial performance improvement; advising a publicly traded specialty diversified health company on acquisition, integration, divestiture of non-core businesses and on a clinical transformation that led to a successful exit to a national payer; leading a publicly traded multi-specialty benefits management firm in its divestiture of a health plan subsidiary, clinical and operational transformation of several operating units, and growth implementation of a major state Medicaid pharmacy carve-out; developing a strategy and growth playbook for a large global insurer’s U.S.-based accident and health business stop-loss portfolio and launching its business and technology transformation; and providing transaction advisory pre-/post-exit of middle market private equity-backed portfolio companies ($500 million–$5 billion) in the healthcare sector.
Mr. Barrette earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. He is Chair Emeritus of Social Enterprise Greenhouse and a Founding Partner in a venture fund focusing on innovative social enterprises in health and education.
