Justin Schmaltz

Mr. Schmaltz has spent his entire career working in distressed situations and transactions, including U.S. Chapter 11, global restructurings, operational turnarounds and distressed transactions. He has worked with clients across a range of industries, including telecommunications, media, technology, commercial real estate, publishing, sports and entertainment, energy, mining, automotive, transportation, retail, pharmaceuticals and banking and financial services.
Mr. Schmaltz's notable engagements include advising T*Mobile (re: Sprint Wireline), Intelsat, Windstream, QualTek, WeWork, iHeartMedia, Blockbuster, Cengage Learning, Tribune Company, Dynata, SandRidge Energy, Swift Energy, Expro, Pioneer Energy Services, Murray Energy, Graceway Pharmaceuticals and lenders to Delphi Corporation. He has also served as Chief Restructuring Officer of Answers Corporation.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Schmaltz spent more than four years with the corporate and project workouts department of Prudential Private Capital (formerly Prudential Capital Group), which manages ~$96 billion of private debt, mezzanine and equity investments.
Mr. Schmaltz earned a bachelor’s degree (concentrations in finance and accounting) from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst. His work was recognized by the Turnaround Management Association, which selected iHeartMedia as its “Mega Company Transaction of the Year.” He was also recognized by the American Bankruptcy Institute as a “40 Under 40” honoree.
