Julia Schwientek

Ms. Schwientek has an extensive finance background and specializes in the commercialization of pharmaceuticals along the entire lifecycle for patent protected products as well as generics. She has led multidisciplinary teams in the U.S., South Africa, and Syria, focusing on finance, commercial, and corporate functions. She has received three investor awards from Institutional Investor Magazine.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Schwientek worked with Merck KGaA. As Program Lead for a company-wide restructuring project, she identified savings potential that resulted in a 5 percent savings on overall personnel costs. Previously, as Global Brand Lead in the diabetes franchise, she launched a prediabetes drug in 50+ countries, expanding market share in the Middle East, Latin America, and Europe. Before that, as Chief of Staff of the Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer of Healthcare, she led a new operating model, resulting in a 1 to 2 percent bottom line profit and loss improvement and boosting speed to commercial execution. As Associate Director of Investor Relations, she helped enhance the company’s capital market attractiveness.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Schwientek worked with Siemens AG as Deputy Commercial Project Manager of a power plant in Syria. She used diligent risk mitigation and subcontractor negotiations to turn around a negative margin, resulting in a €40 million bottom line improvement. Additionally, she worked as an Interim CFO, Restructuring Consultant, and Cluster Controller in South Africa and led negotiations with a Chinese original equipment manufacturer on product supply and technological transfer, which resulted in deal closure and new contract generation of €50+ million in sales.
Ms. Schwientek earned a bachelor’s degree in international management from FOM University of Applied Sciences and an MBA from Durham Business School and EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht. She is a member of the Union International Club in Frankfurt. A German national, Ms. Schwientek is fluent in German, English, and French.
