John Sawyer is a Managing Director with the A&M Valuation Services practice in Seattle. He specializes in the valuation of public and privately held businesses and complex financial instruments for purposes of tax reporting, financial statement reporting and strategic consulting.

Although he has a broad range of experience, Mr. Sawyer has particular expertise in the valuation of early-stage, venture-backed companies, share-based compensation, hybrid debt, structured products, complex financial instruments and derivatives, including options, warrants, convertible instruments, swaps, market and performance-based stock awards, credit-risky derivatives, and various embedded derivatives for financial statement reporting and tax reporting purposes.

Mr. Sawyer has valued companies in most major industry groups, including technology, biopharmaceuticals, fishing, utilities, telecommunications, healthcare, wholesale, retail, and service industries both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Sawyer earned a BBA (finance concentration) from Washington State University. He has written and spoken extensively on valuation techniques for companies with complex capital structures, as well as on the valuation of cryptocurrencies.
