Joanna Rangarajan

With more than 15 years of experience across the consulting and retail industries, Ms. Rangarajan’s primary areas of concentration are strategic sourcing, operating model design, sustainability, and technology enablement. She has extensive experience working on product development, design, product management, and quality assurance.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Rangarajan was the Vice President of Sourcing Strategy, Global Operations and Sustainability with J. Crew Group, LLC. She led multiple turnaround initiatives, delivering EBITDA improvement from $200 million annualized COGS reduction through sourcing model migration, COO optimization, and PLM implementation and serving as the operational lead during financial restructuring. She established a global operations function that drove strategy and process for product development, led the opening of a Hong Kong office, and launched the sustainability and responsible sourcing function and the Fair TradeTM certification.
Previously, Ms. Rangarajan was with The Children’s Place, where she led sourcing operations across four global offices. Recognized as an impactful, effective leader, she drove programs including a 10-week cycle time reduction, 10 percent reduction of sourcing expense: ship ratio, 95 percent improvement in fair claim issuance and recovery and concurrent implementations of ERP and sourcing systems. Ms. Rangarajan began her consulting career with Kurt Salmon, advising mid- and large-cap companies on speed-to-market reduction, process turnaround, technology implementations, and large-scale global change management programs.
Ms. Rangarajan earned a bachelor’s degree (with distinction) from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
