Jeff Relf is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Performance Improvement in Houston.

Mr. Relf specializes in the upstream, midstream and pipeline segments of the energy industry where he focuses on developing CIO agendas and IT strategies, business process reengineering and the implementation of cutting-edge information systems to address critical business needs. He has served as a Chief Information Officer, a Supply Chain Executive and a Management Consultant.

Mr. Relf has over 20 years of experience identifying improvement opportunities and designing and implementing pragmatic solutions for clients in the energy industry. He has led high-performance, global teams and has delivered complex projects across Europe, Russia, China, Australia and the U.S.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Relf spent seven years with BG Group as a CIO based in Brisbane, Australia and as a Supply Chain Executive based in Houston. In the capacity of CIO, he spearheaded the vision, strategic direction and delivery of all IT systems in support of the rapid construction of the world’s first coal seam gas to LNG liquefaction business in Queensland, Australia. Prior to that, Mr. Relf served as a consultant to the pipeline and midstream industry in the U.S.

For a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, Mr. Relf led the IT strategy and implementation for the acquisition of a natural gas pipeline company, involving commercial systems, operational systems, corporate systems and infrastructure. 

Mr. Relf also led a large, multi-disciplined, post-merger integration change program for a $1.2 billion pipeline company with interests in over 31,000 miles of crude oil and refined products pipelines. He reengineered the company’s end-to-end work processes in the areas of M&A, sales, capital projects, operations, maintenance, business development, purchase-to-pay, finance, human resources, EH&S and IT/GIS.

While working for a privately held conglomerate, Mr. Relf led a strategic initiative for the execution of product movement for liquids and gas pipelines which included implementing SCADA, pipeline simulation, power cost analysis, process historian and AI tools. He also led a corporate wide IT transformation program for a mid-cap midstream company based in Houston.

Mr. Relf earned a bachelor’s degree in Management Information System from the University of Arizona. He also holds a certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS).
