Jeff Wong

Mr. Wong brings a particular focus on regulator engagement, transaction/listing readiness, M&A tax due diligence and structuring, as well as restructuring and turnaround tax matters.
With more than 11 years of experience working across M&A tax and private client service teams, Mr. Wong possesses a unique skill set to navigate the often-complex structure of private groups, whilst ensuring that value is maximized for all stakeholders during M&A transactions and restructures.
Mr. Wong’s recent projects include advising a waste management business on its journey to IPO through to an eventual $2.6 billion take private transaction; being responsible for the ongoing tax compliance of a nationwide automotive group and advising on its $300 million trade sale; advising the founder of an Australian technology start-up on his $250 million sale to a Silicon Valley company; and leading the tax workstreams on the voluntary administration of a multi-billion-dollar construction group.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Wong spent 11 years with the Deloitte M&A Tax Team in Sydney, where he most recently served as a Partner. He was an industry agnostic transaction specialist who has advised a range of private companies, founders and family groups from inception to an eventual exit event. Additionally, Mr. Wong worked closely with the restructuring and turnaround teams in leading the relevant tax workstreams, as well as being the leader for the Australian M&A Tax digital transformation initiative.
Mr. Wong earned a bachelor’s degree in law (honours) and a bachelor’s degree in commerce (major in finance) from the University of Sydney. He is admitted as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.
