James Robinson is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Transformation Services in London. He brings nearly 20 years of advisory experience, driving performance improvement in corporate and private equity-owned businesses. Mr. Robinson specialises in structuring and delivering large transformations and post-merger integration engagements, with a focus on cost reduction and EBITDA improvement. He has worked with clients across a range of industries, including industrials, aerospace, business services, media, manufacturing, transport, financial services and hospitality.

Most recently at A&M, Mr. Robinson coordinated a large-scale restructuring programme for the primary division of a global industrials company. He led the Restructuring Office and drove the delivery of +£100m of benefits through operational improvements and transformation of core business processes.

Mr. Robinson’s other notable engagements include: leading the global Integration Management Office (IMO) for a three-way, multi-billion dollar media merger across 25 countries, resulting in run rate synergies of approximately 25 percent of EBITDA within a year following deal close; managing the carve-out and integration of a private-equity-funded high-tech manufacturer to successfully achieve sign-to-close in three months and a seamless Day 1 cut over; and coordinating the post-merger integration of two UK based private-equity-funded outsourcing businesses, resulting in a c. 30 percent uplift in EBITDA.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Robinson was a Managing Consultant within the People and Operational Excellence practice at PA Consulting in London. 

Mr. Robinson earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering (1st class) from Imperial College in London. He is accredited as a Lean expert by the Lean Enterprise Research Centre at Cardiff Business School, and has successfully completed the Developing Business Design Experts Programme certified by Henley Business School. He is also a PRINCE2® Practitioner.
