Jake Taylor is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Brisbane. He specializes in M&A tax, investment fund structuring, and complex tax advisory matters. Mr. Taylor has advised private equity funds, venture capital funds, hedge funds, credit funds, corporations, and high net worth individuals.


With over 10 years of experience, Mr. Taylor’s expertise includes buy- and sell-side tax due diligence and structuring for businesses in the consumer, industrial, natural resources, real estate, infrastructure and technology sectors. He advises on both international and domestic tax matters, including financing structures, thin capitalization, tax consolidation and tax attribute utilization.

Mr. Taylor also advises on the establishment. operation and winding down of investment funds. He has significant experience advising funds on the application of the Managed Investment Trust (MIT), Attribution Managed Investment Trust (AMIT), Venture Capital Limited Partnership (VCLP), Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnership (ESVCLP), Investment Manager Regime (IMR), Corporate Collective Investment Vehicle (CCIV) and foreign hybrid regimes.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Taylor worked with EY in Sydney. Previously, he worked as a tax lawyer at an Australian law firm renowned for its top-tier mergers and acquisitions practice.

Mr. Taylor earned a law degree (honours) and a commerce degree (majoring in finance) from the University of Queensland, and a master’s degree in law from the University of Sydney. He is admitted to practice as a lawyer in Queensland.
