Henning Mueller is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Transformation in Zurich. He leads the energy and process industry team within the Industrial Transformation group in Europe.

Mr. Mueller has more than 28 years of international experience in the energy industry, specifically downstream refining and petrochemicals. He focuses on strategy, M&A, and target operating model development as well as transformation projects for large operations and commercial excellence. He has worked across the globe, notably in the US, Brazil, the Middle East, and India.

Mr. Mueller’s background showcases a distinctive blend of effective industry leadership and business management consulting. Proficient in steering international projects, he excels in strategy development, execution, and driving transformative initiatives for midsize and large bottom-line performance improvement programs.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Mueller served as Partner with EY-Parthenon and was responsible for its Future Energy Center of Excellence. Previously, he served for four years at McKinsey & Company, where he led the EMEA Energy Downstream practice, and for 15 years at Accenture, acting as the Global Energy Downstream practice lead as well as the Europe, Africa, and Latin America lead for the Operational Excellence practice across energy, chemicals, and natural resources. Prior to this, Mr. Mueller worked for six years with ExxonMobil as an expert in international refining and petrochemicals manufacturing operations improvement.

Mr. Mueller earned a master’s degree in chemistry from the Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg. As an active founder of the Future Energy Executive Roundtable since its inauguration in 2002, he continues to drive discussions and initiatives at the forefront of the industry.
