Doug Staut is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Restructuring & Turnaround in Nashville. He brings 20 years of financial experience and 12 years of experience helping companies navigate financial and operational challenges.

Mr. Staut provides interim management, strategic planning, crisis management, cash and financial forecasting, turnaround consulting, refinancing advisory and operational improvement services to clients in and out of court. He develops detailed cash flow and operating models, liquidation analyses, operational improvement analyses, refinancing and business plan projections in preparation for restructurings and change of control.

Mr. Staut served as Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to a billion dollar provider of radiation oncology and integrated cancer care during operational and financial restructuring; as interim CFO to a private equity sponsored urology physician practice management organization; as interim CFO to a private equity sponsored autism behavioral analysis therapy provider; and as a senior member of the restructuring team for a $2 billion senior housing developer/manager during the chapter 11 process, 363 auction and wind-down of the estate post-confirmation.

Previously, Mr. Staut served as financial advisor to a 300-bed acute care hospital during chapter 11, 363 auction and wind-down of the estate post-confirmation; advised a 400-bed Louisiana-based Continued Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and led successful operational turnaround and refinancing; advised five Connecticut skilled nursing facilities during the chapter 11 restructuring process; and advised a $150 million CCRC during pre-packaged bankruptcy restructuring. He also provided merger integration advice to a community hospital being combined into a $1 billion hospital network.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Staut worked for Merrill, Lynch & Co. in Corporate Treasury as VP of Global Liquidity Risk Management. He forecasted firm-wide cash flows for senior management and implemented short, medium and long-term funding strategies based upon cash flow forecasts.

Mr. Staut earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from the Columbia Business School (finance concentration). He is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA).
