Mr. McCormack specializes in M&A, growth and transformation strategies for enterprises in the software and technology sector, as well as for non-software companies looking to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their technology. He brings over 30 years of experience as both an operator and advisor.
At A&M, Mr. McCormack’s recent projects for CVC, Vitruvian, Silver Lake and a variety of listed corporates include market study and portfolio/product review for a European-listed software enterprise; buy-side operational due diligence of a global capital markets trading infrastructure managed services provider; and leading the technology workstream of an accelerated efficiency programme for an FTSE100 enterprise.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. McCormack held a variety of executive roles at the ION Investment Group, a €3 billion revenue privately-owned holding company executing a build and buy strategy in software and data and employing 13,000 FTEs. There, his notable engagements include managing top- and bottom-line performance management of PortCos to achieve EBITDA margins of 60% and commensurate cash conversion. He also served as CEO of Fidessa in the first year of ION taking them private, including reducing headcount by 30% as Fidessa was integrated into the group.
Previously, Mr. McCormack was a Managing Director for 12 years at the world’s largest wealth manager (UBS), where he managed, developed and ran award-winning marquee global mission-critical platforms through varied economic cycles. He began his career at Accenture as a developer, progressing to system design, technical project management and IT advisory.
Mr. McCormack earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from University College Dublin. He has held approved roles under the Financial Conduct Authority Senior Management Regime at both ION and UBS, including the lead role SMF 29 (apportionment and oversight) at ION.
