Ms. Watson has originated and executed numerous transactions for a variety of financial institution clients, including specialist lenders, asset managers, large global systemically important banks and for Banco Santanders’ own balance sheet.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Watson served as Managing Director and led the U.K. Financial Institutions Group banking team at Banco Santander within the Corporate and Investment bank. She was responsible for all sectors within the U.K. financial institutions landscape, serving a wide perimeter of clients and providing tailored solutions across multiple products, including capital markets, structured solutions and markets business, transaction banking, balance sheet management and strategic financing.
Previously, Ms. Watson served as the firm's Head of U.K. Banks and Non-Bank Financials covering top-tier U.K. investment banks, Irish and Nordic Banks, U.K. challenger banks and smaller specialist lenders and was responsible for managing and growing relationships with these institutions. In addition to the client facing business, Ms. Watson worked closely with all internal teams, in particular the risk and operational project teams, and helped lead various strategic projects such as the banking reform project (splitting of the business into a ringfenced and non-ringfenced bank) and also helped to ensure the timely and optimal delivery of Libor transition for the financial institutions business. Before that, she spent 11 years in the Global Structuring Team, originating and executing complex, structured transactions of a tax, accounting, regulatory nature, as principal, to maximise shareholder value through optimization of the Banco Santander Group’s tax, liquidity or regulatory capital position.
Ms. Watson earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Bristol University. She served as the ExCo sponsor for Santander’s D&I committee and actively drove the D&I agenda. A U.K. national, Ms. Watson is conversational in French and Spanish.
