Christopher Sherman is a Director with Alvarez & Marsal Aerospace, Automotive & Industrials in New York. He brings 20+ years of experience in driving value creation through strategic positioning, M&A transactions, and operational excellence in the aerospace, defense, aviation, and space industries.

Mr. Sherman’s background spans corporate strategy, investment banking, management consulting, and operations leadership, supporting private equity sponsors and public companies globally.

Mr. Sherman’s notable assignments include leading major operational transformations, delivering stepchange production gains by aligning demand, capital, and labor; accelerating ramp via automation and a digitally connected factory; and redesigning methods, equipment, and layouts to eliminate bottlenecks and reduce unit cost. He has also partnered with Tier 1 defense contractors to improve supply chain quality and delivery by embedding operational excellence practices in machining, composites, electronics, and aircraft assembly.

Previously, Mr. Sherman coordinated the industrialization of a global engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) network by optimizing capacity, executing strategic sourcing initiatives, and establishing longterm partnerships that improved turnaround time, repair yields, and cost efficiency. During the COVID19 pandemic, he led the global aftermarket operations strategy for a $5 billion commercial aerospace business, sustaining growth, quality, and ontime delivery amid extreme market disruption.

In addition, Mr. Sherman has executed numerous complex international transactions, managing the full deal life cycle from origination through closing, including due diligence, definitive agreement negotiations, and integration/separation across buy and sell side M&A, joint ventures, risk/revenue sharing partnerships (RRSPs), employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), and other strategic alternatives.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Sherman was a Director at Alton Aviation Consultancy and held strategic leadership roles at Pratt & Whitney, a division of Raytheon Technologies (now RTX corporation). Previously, he was an investment banker at KippsDeSanto & Co. and Bluestone Capital Partners. He began his career at Sikorsky Aircraft as a supplier quality engineer.

Mr. Sherman earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Trinity College, Connecticut, and an MBA (concentrations in finance and strategy) from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
