Carl Padding is a Senior Advisor with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Chicago. He brings more than four decades of experience, specializing in cost segregation services focused on commercial real estate properties and construction-related activities for federal and state tax reporting purposes.  

Mr. Padding has performed and provided oversight and tax research/analysis for hundreds of cost segregation projects. He has experience with IRS examinations with favorable results regarding real estate, cost segregation and fixed asset matters.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Padding spent eleven years with Armanino LLP, most recently in the Chicago office. As Director – Real Estate Consulting, Mr. Padding helped develop and grow the cost segregation practice area and a variety of energy incentives services.

Mr. Padding earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the National Association of Construction Auditors with designations of Construction Control Professional (CCP) and Certified Construction Auditor (CCA).
