Benjamin Wunderlich is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Healthcare Industry Group in Washington, D.C.

With more than 10 years of experience, Mr. Wunderlich has served as a finance and operations partner, including in interim management positions, identifying performance issues, synergy opportunities and developing plans and managing execution to achieve aggressive financial goals. He specializes in multisite healthcare services, including dental, urgent care, orthopedics and dermatology.

Mr. Wunderlich’s select experience includes serving as Interim Vice President of Finance for a ~$500 million orthopedics practice, where he implemented and led the company’s first bottoms up budgeting process. He also served as Interim Vice President of Finance for a ~$350 million DSO, where he oversaw the financial planning, accounting and treasury functions. He led operational and finance initiatives to get the company back to ~90% of pre-COVID-19 revenue within several months post-lockdown, which included implementing daily office-level revenue and labor management dashboards. Mr. Wunderlich then led the company’s first bottoms-up budgeting process, successfully managed cash-flow during COVID-19, rebuilt the financial management reporting package and identified and turned around revenue cycle metrics that were trending downward post the pandemic.

Furthermore, Mr. Wunderlich has served as Interim Controller for a $75 million DSO, where he oversaw the accounting and accounts payable functions, including the monthly close process, revenue recognition and cash-flow forecasting; led numerous finance function assessments, spanning organizational structure, key financial systems and processes; led numerous operational due diligence assessments to identify post-acquisition operating levers for acquiring sponsors in the radiopharmaceutical space; and partnered with operations and HR on a clinic-level assessment to identify staffing inefficiencies, resulting in ~$2 million in annual EBITDA.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Wunderlich spent three years with GE Capital Healthcare Finance and five years at UBS Investment Bank.

Mr. Wunderlich earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder and an MBA from The George Washington University. He previously served on the Sibley Hospital’s Young Professional Board.
