Alejandro García Seimandi is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Mexico City. He leads the Global Trade practice in Mexico.

Mr. García Seimandi specializes in tariff, trade, and customs matters. His primary areas of concentration are free trade agreements, tariff classification, customs valuation, maquila operations, antidumping fees, cross-border paperless trade, and health regulations.

Mr. García Seimandi has more than 25 years of experience advising and representing clients across multiple industries, including aerospace, apparel, automotive, auto-parts, chemical, cosmetic, electric, electronic, food and beverage, medical, mining, natural gas, oil, pharmaceuticals, retail, tires, and tobacco.

Throughout his career, Mr. García Seimandi served as a panelist under Chapter XIX of the North America Free Trade Agreement and participated in the tariff classification council of the Mexican Tax Administration Service. He has advised clients in complex customs operations, including: importation of solar farms, oil rigs, vessels, and gas; exportation from private port facilities; compliance with intricate rules origin; and temporary importation controls.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. García Seimandi spent 20 years as Managing Partner of Seimandi, a customs law boutique firm in Mexico City.

Mr. García Seimandi earned an LLB from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico. He trained in tariff classification at the World Customs Organization in Brussels and is a member of the Mexican Corporate Counsel Association (ANADE), where he is on the board of directors. He is also a member of the Mexican Bar Association (BMA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and is an active participant in the Institute of Public Accountants of Mexico (IMCP). Mr. García Seimandi coauthored the books Basic Knowledge of Foreign Trade, and Customs and Foreign Trade Consultant, a national study on electronic commerce in Mexico, and a 2022 report on Mexico’s readiness for cross-border paperless trade. Mr. García Seimandi has given lectures, conferences, and seminars on customs, tax, and foreign trade issues at various institutions across Mexico and the US.
