Aditya Murali is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Mumbai. He specializes in global asset tracing and recovery, pre-transaction investigative due diligence, strategic intelligence, fraud and whistleblower investigations and design and implementation of business partner risk management programs.

With more than 10 years of experience in business intelligence and investigations, Mr. Murali works with corporate and conglomerate clients across a range of industries, including manufacturing, mining and extractive and pharmaceuticals, and also engages with global institutional, sovereign and private equity investors and law firms. 

Most recently at A&M, Mr. Murali led the global asset tracing work-stream of a $4 billion fraud investigation, which covered 80+ suspected perpetrators across 30+ jurisdictions, resulting in the identification of 1,300+ assets valued at over $2 billion. The engagement leveraged public records, intelligence and electronically stored information to trace assets and identify potential improper use of company funds to purchase assets. 

Mr. Murali has led 30+ global asset tracing engagements, including two sovereign asset traces and numerous investigations into high profile Indian corporate defaulters; engagements around the design and implementation of a bespoke technology-enabled business partner due diligence program for a $10 billion conglomerate; and pre-transaction investigative due diligence engagements for leading bulge bracket and sovereign wealth funds in South and Southeast Asia. He has also conducted due diligence on multiple cross-functional integrated projects, working with A&M financial and commercial due diligence teams to provide triangulated and quantifiable insights, and several strategic intelligence gathering engagements for corporations tackling issues such as leakage of confidential data, stakeholder risks and senior-level employee wrongdoing.  

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Murali spent seven years with Kroll’s Business Intelligence & Investigations practice, where he last served as Director. He led corporate investigations, asset recovery and due diligence projects in South Asia for investor and corporate clients across the globe.   

Mr. Murali earned a bachelor’s degree in English (honors) from St. Stephen’s College Delhi and a master’s degree in comparative politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
