Abhinav Chandra is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Consumer and Retail Group in San Francisco. He brings more than 15 years of experience creating strong relationships and serving as a trusted advisor to C-Suites and boards across Fortune 200 companies in the consumer, retail and technology sectors.

Mr. Chandra’s experience spans corporate transformations and turnarounds, with a focus on digital, technology and automation, and general management consulting. He has deep expertise in business strategy, using digital and omni-channel experience to propel growth, new operating models for the digital age, building innovation-centric culture, and using AI and big data to drive automation that improves customer experience, sales and profitability.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Chandra was Head of Customer Experience Worldwide and Head of Women’s Clothing at Amazon. He used AI to increase automation in fashion planning, buying, inventory management, pricing and marketing, more than doubling revenue and improving margin by more than100 basis points. Mr. Chandra also transformed the customer experience approach and organization model to be end-to-end and predictive, reducing negative customer experiences by over 400 basis points and increasing conversion.

Previously, Mr. Chandra was with McKinsey & Company, where he was an Associate Partner in the Retail and Consumer Practice. There, he led transformations at Fortune 200 companies to drive commercial growth as well as operational improvements to increase profitability. Mr. Abhinav’s notable projects include transforming private label product design, assortment planning and vendor engagement model at a top mass merchandiser with a bottom-line impact of more than $500 million; and developing and implementing a marketing and growth strategy for a multi-brand apparel company that resulted in over 15 percent sales growth. ​​​​​

Mr. Chandra earned two bachelor’s degrees in engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences in India and an MBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at University of Michigan.
