Mr. Umberger delivers highly complex consulting engagements to federal government executives. He has worked with clients across the federal government, including Defense, Homeland Security and civilian agencies, and has led successful client delivery of strategic transformation, comprehensive sourcing solutions and supply chain transformation for government and commercial organizations.
Mr. Umberger has led key Department of Defense (DoD) strategic transformation initiatives in IT cost takeout, sourcing, category management, supply chain technology and workforce optimization. He led a strategic sourcing effort for a large military organization’s Chief Information Officer to reduce IT spend that identified tens of millions of dollars in cost reduction over a six-month period. Mr. Umberger also led several strategic planning efforts for a DOD-wide enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to enhance mission readiness and improve transportation and financial management systems.
Previously, Mr. Umberger led a large border security procurement that acquired the next generation of fixed infrastructure and surveillance equipment for the agency. He has also supported several large, complex procurements for Federal IT systems in support of various agencies.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Umberger spent nearly nine years at a large global professional services firm and two years at one of the largest technology firms in the government market. He served as the Department of the Air Force Account Lead, overseeing client delivery, resourcing, relationship management, and business development activities for Air Force organizations, a $180 billion organization. Mr. Umberger was also the Program Lead for one of the largest government-wide acquisition contracts (GWACs) in the transformation area, with a ceiling of $2 billion.
Mr. Umberger earned a BBA from James Madison University. He holds certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM).
