Mr. Alvarez has played an integral role in high-profile turnarounds and performance improvement projects, including carve-out/merger-integrations. He brings over 30 years of experience serving public and privately owned companies, and has worked in the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Romania and the UAE, as well as in the U.S., Africa and Asia. Over the last 10 years, he has led the turnaround of several systemic risk businesses.

Since transferring to Europe, Mr. Alvarez has acted as team leader on international advisory and operating improvement mandates with a number of high-profile multinationals, including Estée Lauder, Rolls-Royce PLC, a Fortune 250 international corporate real estate company, Accor, NMC Healthcare, Endemol Shine Group, Agrokor and BMI Hospitals.

Mr. Alvarez has provided leadership, strategic focus and execution support to realize sales improvements; gross margin improvements and greater productivity efficiencies, overseeing plant closures and consolidations; and throughput manufacturing improvements. He has improved operational control and predictability of results, staff reductions, capital expenditure reviews, cash management, financial reporting and right-sizing the capital structure to meet business mid-term needs, including restoring best practice corporate governance. He has also led several M&A processes in complex situations.

Mr. Alvarez has been involved or acted as senior advisor to engagement team leaders related to sovereign and financial institution strategic performance improvement/restructuring in Ireland (NAMA), Iceland (Kaupthing Bank), Greece (Agricultural Bank, Postal Bank and Consignment Bank) and the Philippines (Philippine Airlines), as well for multiple engagements involving Monitor, the U.K. healthcare regulator. He has acted in executive roles for European clients, including Chief Restructuring Officer of NMC Healthcare, CRO and Director of Edcon Group, CRO of Abengoa Group and Chairman of Ayming Group in France.

Mr. Alvarez earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Cornell University. He is fluent in French and English and proficient in Spanish and Italian.
