Pankaj Grover is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Delhi. He is part of the Indirect Tax practice and specializes in leading large-scale complex compliance projects, strategic tax advisory with a hands-on approach, managing tax controversy/litigation matters, and departmental audits and assessments.

With more than 17 years of experience, Mr. Grover has advised several clients on navigating the ever-evolving indirect tax environment. Over the course of his career, he has served a broad spectrum of clients, including Indian conglomerates, Europe- and US-based multinationals, and Japanese sogo-shoshas. Mr. Grover’s sectoral expertise is diverse, covering consumer, IT/information technology enabled services (ITES), healthcare, e-commerce, telecom, etc.

Mr. Grover has led various complex compliance engagements for varied clientele, including a major quick commerce company with 2,000+ dark stores, a leading telecom industry player, a US-based medical device company, and a multisector Indian conglomerate. These engagements encompassed handling PAN India departmental audits and litigation matters and extending strategic advisory support on high-stakes business transactions. He has also led multi-stakeholder projects involving automation of tax compliance processes through extract, transform, load (ETL)-based solutions to streamline high-volume data.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Grover spent nearly 12 years with Deloitte India and six years with PwC. During his previous role, his responsibilities included overseeing multistate compliance engagements with end-to-end assistance on audits and assessments, strategic advisory to clients on India market entry, and evaluating incentives under customs, state industrial/global capability center (GCC), and other central policies for setting up greenfield/expansion of brownfield manufacturing/R&D/service projects in India. He also spearheaded a project developing an input tax credit liquidation strategy for an Indian conglomerate with a diverse and complex business landscape.

Mr. Grover earned a bachelor’s degree from Delhi University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
