Tom Parkinson
Mr. Parkinson specializes in carve-out due diligence and separation execution in operationally complex transactions, as well as synergy identification and realization during complex merger integrations. He advises investors and portfolio companies across the full deal life cycle, including pre-deal due diligence, deal execution, and post-deal value creation.
With more than 15 years of experience, Mr. Parkinson has advised large-cap private equity on both buy- and sell-side transactions with more than $30 billion in enterprise value. He brings significant experience in large, transformational carve-outs and complex separation programs.
Mr. Parkinson's notable assignments include: supporting Bain Capital leading the sell-side separation planning, carve-out financials, and separation execution for its $1 billion divestiture of Kantar Media to H.I.G. Capital; supporting Apax Partners leading the buy-side carve-out and operational due diligence for their €5.1 billion acquisition of Odido from Deutsche Telekom; supporting Hillhouse Capital leading the buy-side carve-out and operational due diligence, sign-to-close and post-close separation work for their €3.7bn acquisition of Versuni/Philips Domestic Appliances from Philips; supporting Bain Capital leading the carve-out due diligence, sign-to-close, and separation execution work for their acquisition of Kantar Media which valued the business at $4 billion; and supporting AB InBev on leading sell-side the separation diligence and carve-out financial work, then subsequently the separation execution on their €10 billion divestitures of SABMiller Europe (Western then Eastern) to Asahi.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Parkinson spent 12 years with EY, where he was an Equity Partner in the Private Equity practice, leading the carve-out capability in London.
Mr. Parkinson earned a bachelor’s degree (first class) in economic history from University College London.
