Peter Platsch is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Düsseldorf. He co-leads the firm's European carve-out and PMI practice and the Aviation & Defence vertical.

With more than 25 years of international senior management and C-level experience, Mr. Platsch specializes in M&A transactions (due diligence processes, carve-out and post-merger integration), business process outsourcing, value creation, operational excellence projects and corporate restructuring. He has led several ODD, carve-out, sign-to-close and PMI projects in the chemical, aviation and broader industrial sectors; served as interim manager and trusted advisor in many cross-border transformations, including headcount reduction programs; and has negotiated social plans with workers’ councils and union representatives.

Most recently Mr. Platsch led a global post-merger integration program in the chemical sector, after having carved out a business unit from Evonik Industries as well as an integrated carve-out due diligence process for a PE fund, acquiring a consumer goods business from a global conglomerate.

Previously, Mr. Platsch served as acting Chief Executive Officer of an online vacation rental business, managing the wind down of the German operation; Interim Chief Transformation Officer of a market-leading business exhibition management company, where he developed a target operating and integration model for a German bolt-on acquisition; and Chief Integration Officer for a European insulation material manufacturer, developing and executing a synergy and integration plan across five production sites in Germany.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Platsch spent over 11 years in aerospace, mainly with Fairchild Dornier GmbH, where he served as Vice President Procurement and Service Contracts and General Counsel. He was also the responsible in-house counsel for all corporate law aspects in connection with the acquisition of the Fairchild Dornier Group by two major PE funds, including subsequent funding of the group via leverage financing through several shareholder levels. Mr. Platsch also dealt regularly with the company’s works council and union representatives, and was Co-Chairman of the executive employee committee.

Mr. Platsch earned a bachelor’s degree in law and an LLM (concentration in mergers and acquisitions) from the University of Munich. A German national, he is a member of the German bar and fluent in German and English.

Although vital to MRO processes, MRO IT is characterized by underinvestment and unleveraged efficiency increase potential. Facing pandemic-strapped IT budgets, buyers need to balance cost saving measures and overdue technology investments to help their IT departments contribute to company value.
